Our History
In 1978, a small group of Cape Bretoners headed by Elias Jabalee concluded that owners of residential rental properties had remained silent for too long while decisions affecting their livelihoods were being made. They concluded that a large body of expertise in the field of rental housing was simply not being consulted and not being heard. Elias Jabalee met with several landlords in Halifax and Sydney and from this consensus developed the Investment Property Owners Association of Cape Breton, an organization dedicated to representing the area while providing members with services of tangible benefit.
The Investment Property Owners Association of Cape Breton is affiliated with the Investment Property Owners Association of Nova Scotia.
The Investment Property Owners Association has established itself as the "voice" of rental property owners and has come to be recognized by government, the news media and the public at large as a responsible, credible voice in matters affecting residential rental property in the province.
